Getting around

From/To the Airport

The metro is conveniently located right next to the airport. Ride-sharing apps such as Uber and Bolt also work very well in the city. We suggest avoiding regular taxis, as overcharging and tourist scams are unfortunately quite common.

Car hire

If you prefer, there are several car rental options; just note that some areas in Lisbon have narrow streets and limited parking.

Public Transportation

For metro, tram, and bus travel, you’ll need a Viva Viagem card. It can be purchased at ticket machines in any metro station (including the airport) for €0.50 and then topped up as needed. The machines have English instructions and accept both cash and card. Keep in mind: each person needs their own card, as there are control points at both entry and exit. One card cannot be shared.
